Appropriation (art)

Appropriation is when an artist takes pieces of work from another artist and uses it in their own art. It's a bit like borrowing. For example, an artist might take a beautiful painting and add their own ideas or changes to create a brand new artwork. It's important for the artist to give credit to the original artist for the ideas they have borrowed and not to try and pass them off as their own.
