ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Aquileian Rite

The Aquileian Rite is a way of practicing religion, specifically the Catholic religion, that was used in the area of Aquileia in Italy a long time ago. It’s kind of like a special way of doing things in church that was different from the way other people did things in different parts of Italy.

Imagine you and your friends all like to play with blocks, but each of you has your own way of building towers and houses from those blocks. Some of you might like to stack them really high, while others like to build houses with lots of doors and windows. The Aquileian Rite is kind of like that – it’s just a different way of using the blocks (or in this case, practicing religion).

The Aquileian Rite involves using different prayers, songs, and rituals during Mass (which is a special service that Catholics go to at church). For example, people who practice the Aquileian Rite might use different words when they say prayers or sing songs. They might also do different things during certain parts of the Mass, like bowing their heads or crossing themselves at different times than other Catholics do.

So, in short, the Aquileian Rite is just a way of practicing the Catholic religion that was used in a certain part of Italy a long time ago. It’s kind of like a different way of building with blocks – everyone has their own way of doing things, and that’s okay!
