Archimedes' heat ray

Okay kiddo, so you know how the sun gives off heat, right? Well, a long, long time ago, there was a man named Archimedes who figured out a way to use the sun's heat to defend his city from the bad guys.

Archimedes used a big, shiny, and curved mirror. This mirror was special because it could reflect the sun's rays in one direction. So when the bad guys came to attack the city, Archimedes took this special mirror and aimed it at the bad guys' ships.

The mirror reflected the sun's heat and focused it onto the ships, making them really, really hot. The bad guys didn't know what was happening, but they started feeling really uncomfortable because their ships were getting so hot. Some even caught on fire!

This special mirror that Archimedes used is called the "heat ray." It's really cool because it uses something called "concentration" to make the sun's heat strong enough to do really powerful things, like melt metal or set things on fire.

So in summary, Archimedes used a shiny mirror to reflect the sun's heat and make it super strong. He used this "heat ray" to defend his city against bad guys by making their ships hot enough to catch on fire!
