Armature (electrical engineering)

Okay kiddo, let's talk about armatures in electrical engineering!

An armature is a really important part of an electric motor or generator. It's kind of like a big coil of wire that spins around when electricity is passed through it.

You know when you play with a toy car or train and you wind it up so it can move? Well, an armature works in a similar way. When electric current is passed through the wires in the armature, it creates a magnetic field which pushes against other magnets in the motor or generator.

This push-and-pull motion makes the armature spin around, which then powers the movement of whatever device it is attached to. So basically, an armature converts electrical energy into motion energy.

Without armatures, many of the things that we use every day wouldn't be able to work properly!
