Arquebus

An arquebus is a really old-fashioned gun that people used to use way back in the olden days. It's very different from the guns we have now, because it's not very accurate and it takes a long time to load.

Imagine you have a long stick with a metal tube on the end. You have to put gunpowder and a little metal ball into the metal tube, and then you light a fuse that sets off the gunpowder. When the gunpowder explodes, it pushes the metal ball out of the tube and towards the thing you want to shoot.

Because the arquebus is not very accurate, it was really hard to hit the thing you were aiming at, especially if it was far away. You also had to be very patient, because loading the gun would take a long time and you could only shoot once before you had to do it all over again.

So while arquebuses were very important in history because they were one of the first guns ever made, they're not something that we use anymore because there are much better guns available today.
