ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Array antenna

An array antenna, like a bunch of straws that are bundled together, is a collection of smaller antennas that all work together to help send and receive signals. Each small antenna is like a little ear or mouth that can pick up or send out signals. When they all work together in a group, they can make the signals stronger and send or receive them over a longer distance.

Think of it like a group of friends working together to accomplish a task. Each friend has their own skills and abilities, but when they work together as a team, they can achieve much more than if they were working alone. Similarly, each antenna in an array has its own abilities, but when they work together, they can boost the signal and transfer information farther.

Whether you're watching a TV show or using a cellphone, the signal you receive comes from an array antenna. So, even though you might not see them, array antennas are an important part of how we communicate with each other wirelessly.
