Art and dementia

Art is when you make something pretty or interesting to look at. Dementia is when a grown-up's brain starts to work differently and they sometimes forget things they used to know.

Sometimes grown-ups with dementia like to make art because it helps them feel happy and calm. Making art can be like a puzzle that they get to solve, by putting different colors and shapes together to make a picture.

When they look at their finished art, it can make them feel proud of themselves and help them remember good memories they have had. Looking at art can also help them remember things they may have forgotten.

Art can be a really helpful and fun way for grown-ups with dementia to express themselves and connect with others, even if they have trouble with their words.
