Okay kiddo, so you know how the Summer Olympics is a big sports competition where athletes from around the world come together to compete in different games like running, jumping, and swimming? Well, there used to be a special part of the Olympics called the Art Competitions.
In these competitions, artists from different countries would submit paintings, sculptures, music, and architecture designs they made, and judges would decide which ones were the best. Just like in the sports events, the winner would get a gold medal, and the runners-up would get silver or bronze medals.
The Art Competitions were part of the Olympics from 1912 to 1948, but they got taken out because people started to think of them as not really related to sports. Now, instead of having art competitions, the Olympics have something called the Cultural Olympics, where different art and cultural events happen alongside the sports events.
So even though there are no more art competitions in the Olympics, artists can still be part of the celebration by sharing their work in the Cultural Olympics.
