Reproduction is the process that plants and animals use to make more of their own kind. To reproduce, a grownup plant or animal makes a baby plant or animal that looks like them. When two grownup plants or animals come together to make a baby, people call that mating. Some plants and animals reproduce by themselves, like flowers or snakes, but most need the help of another grownup of their kind. After mating, the grownup plants or animals care for their babies until they are grownups too.
