Masting

Masting is a term used to describe when lots of trees produce a lot of seeds at the same time. Trees do this so that some of the seeds will end up in the right places to help the trees grow, and so that some of the animals that eat the seeds will eat enough so they will stay healthy. By creating more seeds at the same time, it's more likely that the trees will find new places to grow and animals will have enough food to eat.
