Arthur Flowerdew was an early settler in colonial America. He was born in England in 1607 and moved to Jamestown, Virginia in 1620. He became a successful businessman in the colony and was instrumental in helping to establish the Virginia Company, a company that was responsible for bringing more settlers to the country. He was also one of the first people to grow tobacco in Virginia, which became one of the main exports of the colony. Flowerdew later became a large plantation owner and was very successful in his business endeavors. He died in 1660 at the age of 53 and left behind a large fortune.
