ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Artificial Intelligence Markup Language

Artificial Intelligence Markup Language (AIML) is like a computer language, but it is used to describe conversations between people and computers. AIML is made up of small pieces of code called tags. Each tag is like a command that tells the computer what to do. For example, if you want the computer to say, "Hello, how are you?", the AIML code might look like this: <hi>Hello, how are you?</hi>. When the computer sees this tag, it will respond with "Hello, how are you?". So when you talk to a computer and it talks back, it's probably using AIML.
