Artificial heart

An artificial heart is a special device that helps people who have a very sick or a damaged heart. Just like a real heart, it pumps blood to help keep people alive.

The artificial heart is made up of four parts. The first part is a pump that is connected to a battery. This pump helps to push the blood through the body. The second part is a tube that helps to connect the pump to the heart. This tube helps the blood to flow smoothly between the heart and the pump. The third part is a computer that helps to control the pump. This computer makes sure that the pump is working properly and that it is pumping enough blood. The fourth part is the power source. This is usually a battery that can be carried around, but sometimes it is connected to an electrical outlet.

When someone gets an artificial heart, surgeons remove the damaged or sick heart and connect the artificial heart to their body. The artificial heart is usually placed in the chest, but sometimes it is placed next to the real heart. After the surgery, the person will need to stay in the hospital for a while so that the doctors can make sure that everything is working right.

The artificial heart is not a permanent solution. It is just a temporary fix until a person can get a new heart or until their own heart can heal. But, it does help to keep people alive and healthy until they can get better.
