ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Artificial language

An artificial language is like playing pretend with your friends. It's a made-up language that people use to talk to each other when they don't speak the same language. For example, if you're playing with your friends and you want to talk in secret, you might make up your own language that only you and your friends understand.

Sometimes, people make up artificial languages on purpose to use for other things. Like in movies, TV shows, or books, characters might speak a language that doesn't really exist in the real world. This is called an artificial language too.

Sometimes, people make up artificial languages to help them communicate better in real life. For example, if people from different countries are working together on a project, they might make up a language that combines words from all their languages. This makes it easier for everyone to understand each other.

Overall, an artificial language is a way for people to communicate when they don't speak the same language or to create a new way of communicating for a specific purpose.
