ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ascot tie

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a fancy, dressy tie that looks like it's tied in a knot but is actually just a loop at the top? That's called an ascot tie!

It's kind of like a combination between a necktie and a scarf. It's made out of nice material like silk or cotton and it's usually worn by grown-ups on very fancy occasions like weddings and proms.

To wear an ascot tie, you first have to make sure it's the right length to fit around your neck comfortably. Then, you fold it in half and put the loop over your head, with the ends hanging down in front of you.

Next, you take one end of the tie and cross it over the other end, and then you tuck it up underneath the loop. Finally, you fluff up the ends a little bit so they look nice and neat.

And voila! You have successfully tied an ascot tie. It's a great way to look fancy and dressy for those special occasions, just like the grown-ups do.
