ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ashvamedha

Okay kiddo, so imagine you're a king with a lot of land and wealth. You want to show everyone how powerful you are and prove that your rule is the strongest.

So what do you do? You decide to do a special ceremony called an Ashvamedha.

This means that you will take one of your strongest and most beautiful horses and set it free to roam wherever it wants for a year. No one can touch or harm it during this time.

After one year, you send out a big group of your strongest warriors to find the horse and bring it back to you. If anyone tries to stop them or attack them, they will fight back and defend themselves.

Once the horse is back with you, you keep it safe and have a big ceremony to celebrate your victory. You'll also offer the horse as a sacrifice to the gods to show your loyalty and devotion.

Basically, the Ashvamedha was a way for powerful kings to flex their muscles and show the world how powerful they were. It was a big deal back in ancient times!
