ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Atmosphere of Mars

The atmosphere of Mars is very thin compared to the Earth's. It is made up of mainly carbon dioxide, which is a gas. The air on Mars is much colder than on Earth and has very little moisture. This makes it difficult for plants and animals to live there, because it is too cold and dry for them to survive. Other gases in the atmosphere include nitrogen, argon and oxygen, but these are present in very small amounts. There are also dust particles in the air which can block out sunlight. This means that the air on Mars is not very hospitable for living things.
