ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Atomium

Imagine a very, very tiny ball that is much, much smaller than the tiniest little bug you can see. This ball is made up of even smaller things called "atoms". Atoms are kind of like little building blocks that make up everything you see around you, like the air you breathe, the toys you play with, and even your own body!

Now, imagine that we could make a giant ball that looks just like one of these tiny atoms. We could make it really HUGE so that people could actually walk around inside it! That's what the Atomium is. It's a huge structure that is shaped like an atom, made up of big balls and rods just like the atoms that make up everything else.

The Atomium was built a long time ago in Belgium as part of a big world fair. People from all over the world came to see it and learn more about how atoms work. Even today, people still come from all over to see the Atomium and learn about science!
