ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Attorney at law

An attorney at law is someone who helps people who are having legal problems. They are like superheroes who fight for people's rights and help them get justice.

Imagine you have a problem and you don't know how to fix it. Maybe someone hurt you and you want them to say sorry or maybe you want your parents to let you stay up late. When you have a legal problem, an attorney at law is the person you go to.

They go to school for a long time to learn all about the laws and rules for different situations. They also need to be very good at talking and writing because they have to explain things very clearly to judges and other people in charge. They know all the legal words and can explain them to you in a way that you can understand.

When you hire an attorney at law, they become like your friend and are on your side. They listen to your story and help you make a plan to fix your problem. They might talk to other people involved in the problem, like the person who hurt you or your parents. They try to come up with a plan that everyone can agree on.

An attorney at law is a very important person because they keep everyone safe and make sure that the people who are doing the wrong things get punished. They help people be fair and honest with each other and make the world a better place.
