Auðumbla

Auðumbla is a very old creature from Norse mythology. She was a giant cow, and had the power to create new things just by licking the ice. According to the myth, she lived in a world that was made of ice, and nothing else was there except for her.

One day, as she was licking the ice, she uncovered a man named Buri (which means "producer" in Old Norse). Buri had been hidden inside the ice, and he was the first ancestor of the gods in Norse mythology. Buri went on to have a son named Bor, who himself had three sons: Odin, Vili, and Ve.

Odin, Vili, and Ve went on to become the most important gods in Norse mythology, and they created the world as we know it. They used the body of the giant Ymir to create the earth, and from his blood they made the oceans, from his bones they made the mountains, and from his skull they made the sky.

So, in essence, without Auðumbla, the creature that licked the ice and uncovered Buri, we would not have had the gods and the world as we know it in Norse mythology.
