Audiometry

Hello little one,

Audiometry is when someone checks your hearing to see how well you can hear sounds. They use a special machine called an audiometer that makes different sounds at different levels to see what you can hear and what you can’t.

The first thing they do is to make you wear special headphones that covers your ears. Then they will play a sound that starts off very quiet and gradually makes it louder. They will ask you to tell them when you can hear the sound.

Next, they will play different sounds at different pitches or frequencies. This helps the audiologist to check which part of your ear is not working properly. You might hear a sound like a bird chirping or a beep sound.

After that, they will test how well you can understand speech. They may play recorded voices that say some words and ask you to repeat them. This is done to see how well you can hear and understand words.

Once the test is over, the audiologist will share the results with you and your parents. They will tell you if you have normal hearing or if there are some problems in your ears that needs to be treated.

Audiometry is important to check your ear health and hearing ability. And remember, if you ever feel that you cannot hear properly or hear a ringing in your ears, you can always talk to your parents or doctor.
