Auroral chorus

Well kiddo, have you ever heard a choir singing beautiful songs together? That's what auroral chorus is like, but instead of people singing, it's the special music that happens in the skies above our planet!

So you see, the Earth has a thing called the magnetic field that protects us from the sun's harmful radiation. Sometimes, energy from the sun comes into contact with our magnetic field, creating a beautiful light show in the sky that we call the northern and southern lights, or the auroras.

And sometimes, during these light shows, there's a special kind of music that we can't hear with our human ears. It's called auroral chorus! This music is made up of really low frequency waves that are too low for us to hear, but they're there, and scientists can detect them using special instruments.

It's like when you can't hear a dog whistle because it's too high pitched for you, but the dog can hear it just fine. In this case, the auroral chorus is too low for us to hear, but it's still special music that's happening up in the sky!

Scientists are still trying to figure out exactly how this music is made, but they think it has something to do with electrically charged particles in the Earth's magnetosphere, or the area around our planet that's affected by the magnetic field. It's pretty cool that we can't even see or hear everything that's happening in our world!
