Australasian Hydrographic Society

Australasian Hydrographic Society is a group of people who work together to make sure that maps of the sea and ocean are accurate and up to date. They use special tools called hydrographic surveying equipment to measure the depth of the water and the shape of the sea floor.

This is important because boats and ships need to have accurate maps to navigate safely, and it also helps with tourism and other ocean-related activities. The society is made up of people from different fields, like oceanographers, cartographers, and marine scientists, who all work together to make sure the maps are as accurate as possible.

Being part of the Australasian Hydrographic Society means you get to learn about the ocean and all the living creatures in it, while also helping to ensure safety and efficiency for everyone who uses it.
