ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Autosolvolysis

Okay kiddo, so you know how some things can dissolve in water, like sugar or salt? Well, some chemicals can also dissolve in other chemicals, like alcohol. When a chemical dissolves in the same kind of chemical, it's like it's playing a game of hide-and-seek with itself!

Now, when a chemical dissolves in its own kind of chemical, it can sometimes break apart by itself without needing any other chemicals to help. This is called autosolvolysis! It's like when you play with your toys all by yourself and you accidentally break one of them.

When a chemical goes through autosolvolysis, it creates new chemicals all on its own, without any other chemicals around. So it's kind of like playing chemistry all by yourself! Isn't that pretty neat?
