Average precision

Average Precision is a way of measuring how accurate a search result is. Basically, it takes a list of items that a search engine gives you, ranks them in order of relevance (how closely they match what you were looking for), and then takes the average of how accurate each item is. It's a way of measure how useful the search engine was in giving you what you wanted.
