An Ayatollah is a Muslim leader. They are very important figures in the Islamic religion. In Iran, an Ayatollah is the highest ranking religious leader, and they have a lot of authority when it comes to making decisions. Ayatollahs are often religious scholars and can give advice to people on matters of faith.
