BDSM is a type of relationship between two or more people. It stands for Bondage and Discipline, Domination and Submission, and Sadism and Masochism. In a BDSM relationship, one partner is the "dominant" and the other is the "submissive". The dominant partner sets rules and expectations for the submissive partner and both partners discuss what activities they like or don’t like. The dominant partner sometimes ties up the submissive partner and the submissive partner obeys the rules of the dominant partner. They also suggest activities that both partners can enjoy. BDSM relationships involve talking about the activities beforehand and always making sure the activities are safe and consensual.
