Band-stop filter

Imagine you are listening to music on your headphones, but suddenly you start hearing a really annoying sound that is ruining your favorite song. This annoying sound is called "noise," and it can come from many sources, such as car engines or fans.

Now, imagine you have a special filter that can block this annoying noise while still letting the music pass through. This filter is called a "band-stop filter."

The band-stop filter works by allowing some frequencies of sound to pass through, while blocking others. Think of it like a gate that only lets some cars pass through, while stopping others.

For example, let's say the noise that is ruining your music is at a frequency of 500 Hz. The band-stop filter can be set to block this specific frequency by creating a "stop band" around it. So, any sound that falls within this stop band will be blocked by the filter.

Now, your filter will let all the other frequencies of the music pass through, while blocking the annoying noise that was ruining your favorite song. So, in simple terms, band-stop filter is like a superhero that protects your ears from unwanted sounds.
