ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Bang-bang control

Ok kiddo, have you ever played a game where you have to catch a ball with your hands? Imagine you only have two options: either you move your hands forward to catch the ball or you keep your hands still. Bang-bang control is just like that game. It's a way of controlling things by only using two opposite actions!

For example, let's say you want to keep a room at a certain temperature. You could use a bang-bang control system by turning on the heater when the temperature gets too cold and turning on the air conditioner when the temperature gets too hot. It's like you're playing a game of catch with the temperature!

Bang-bang control systems are used in lots of different things, like thermostats, washing machines, and even rockets! By using only two actions, it makes things simpler and easier to control. Plus, it's a lot of fun to imagine yourself playing a game of catch with a rocket!
