ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Bar resolution

Let's say you have a candy bar that is 10 inches long. Now imagine you want to cut that candy bar into 20 pieces that are all the same size. That's actually really hard to do because humans aren't perfect and it's hard to make all the pieces exactly the same. Bar resolution is kind of like a way to measure how well we did when we tried to cut the candy bar into 20 pieces that are all the same size.

So, if we did a really good job and all the pieces are almost exactly the same size, then we would say we have a very high bar resolution. But if some of the pieces are really big and some are really small, then we would say we have a low bar resolution.

Bar resolution is important in a lot of things besides candy bars. Scientists use it to measure things like the size of cells or particles. They might want to cut something into a certain number of pieces that are all the same size so they can study it better, and bar resolution tells them how well they did that.
