Barabási–Albert model

The Barabási–Albert Model is a mathematical model used to explain the growth of networks. It tries to explain why networks such as the Internet, social networks, or other networks have the shape they do.

The model says that in most networks, like your family or the people you follow on Twitter, the amount of connections for each person is not the same. Most people have fewer connections than some. To explain this, the Barabási–Albert Model says that people who already have connections are more likely to get new connections than people who don't.

In other words, the Barabási–Albert Model says that connections between people in networks tend to “clump together”. The people who have more connections are more likely to get even more connections, while people who don’t have many connections get left out. That’s why some networks look “lumpy” - the people with more connections are the lumps.
