Barbary slave trade

The Barbary Slave Trade was a period of time (from the 1500s to the 1800s) when some people from different countries around the Mediterranean Sea would capture people from other countries to be their slaves. Sometimes the slave traders would capture people from ships, or even kidnap people from their homes. These people would be sold as slaves in markets around the Mediterranean Sea. The slaves were often used as servants, farm workers, or even sold to other places to be sold for even more money. It was a very cruel and unfair trade that was eventually stopped by people in different countries working together.
