ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Barré (fabric)

Barré is the pattern you see on some fabrics that have stripes running horizontally across them, like a zebra or a candy cane. It's created by using different colors of yarn or thread when weaving the fabric.

Imagine you have two different colored shoelaces and you want to make a friendship bracelet. You can weave one shoelace over and under the other to create a pattern. In the same way, when making fabric with a barré pattern, the weaver uses different colored yarns and weaves them over and under each other in a specific way. This creates a colorful stripe in the fabric.

Sometimes, the barré pattern can be very subtle and hard to notice, while other times it can be very bold and noticeable. Either way, it's a fun way to add some color and texture to your clothing or home decor!
