Bastard feudalism is a kind of economic system in which powerful people own land and charge people to live and work on it. It was used in Europe from around 900 AD to the 1500s. In this system, a lord or a king owned some land. They would allow other people to live on the land and work on it, and in return, those people had to give the lord or the king a certain amount of money, goods, or services, like providing military service. People who lived on the lord's land were called vassals, and they each had their own section of land that they could use to support themselves.
