Bateman Manuscript Project

The Bateman Manuscript Project is a really cool way to learn about the history of plants and how people have been studying them for a really, really long time. Basically, a really smart scientist named James Bateman wrote down all of the information he could about different kinds of plants and flowers in the 1800s, and even drew pictures of them!

Now, lots of other really smart scientists and historians are working together to make sure that this special book, called the Bateman Manuscript, can be shared with everyone so that we can all learn about the different types of plants and how they grow. They are using special cameras and computers to make digital copies of the book, so that even people who can't go to the special place where the original book is kept can still learn from it. It's like making a copy of your favorite picture or book so that you can share it with your friends and family forever!
