Bathampton Down
Bathampton Down is a big open area of land near the city of Bath in England. It's a bit like a big, grassy park that lots of people can go to and enjoy. There are no buildings, houses or shops on Bathampton Down so it's really quiet and peaceful, with lots of fresh air.
It's very old, too - people have been using Bathampton Down for thousands of years! A long, long, long time ago, people who lived around Bath used to come here to hunt for food and find things they needed to live. There are also some very old burial mounds on the Down which were made a really long time ago by people who lived here ages ago.
Nowadays, people use Bathampton Down for all sorts of fun things. They might go for a walk with their family and their dog, or have a picnic on the grass in summer. There are also lots of different animals that live on Bathampton Down - like cows and sheep - and some rare plants that grow there too. It's a really special place for lots of different reasons!
