Bayesian average

Have you ever played a game and received a rating for your performance? A Bayesian average is a way to calculate an overall rating based on all the individual ratings given by different people.

Think of it like making a cake. Each person who gives a rating is like a baker who adds an ingredient to the cake. Some people might add a lot of sugar, while others add more flour. But to get the best overall taste, we want to find a recipe that balances out all these different ingredients.

That's where the Bayesian average comes in. It takes all the individual ratings and uses a special formula to figure out the best way to combine them. It's like finding the perfect recipe that uses just the right amount of sugar, flour, eggs, and everything else to make the tastiest cake possible.

And just like how a cake can be made with different ingredients and still taste good, a Bayesian average can be used for different things like rating movies, apps, or even people's skills. It helps us get a more accurate overall rating, rather than just relying on the opinion of one person.
