Beam engine

A beam engine is a big machine that moves things using steam power. It has a big metal beam that goes up and down, like a see-saw. The beam is connected to other parts of the engine that make it work.

To start the engine, someone puts coal into a big furnace and heats up water in a big metal pot called a boiler. The heat from the fire makes steam that goes into the engine. The steam pushes a big piston up and down, which makes the beam move too.

The beam can be connected to other machines, like a water pump or a spinning wheel. This makes the other machines work too! It's like having a big strong friend that helps you move heavy things.

Beam engines were used a long time ago to power factories and boats. Nowadays, we have newer and more efficient machines that do the same things, but the beam engine is still an important part of history and engineering!
