Pumpjack

A pumpjack is a machine that looks like a big metal robot with arms that move up and down. The pumpjack is used to help get oil out of the ground (where it's hiding) and into pipes so it can be transported to a place where people can use it, like a gas station or a factory.

The way the pumpjack works is that it has a long metal rod called a "sucker rod" that goes down into the well where the oil is. The sucker rod connects to a pump deep underground. The pumpjack then uses its arms to lift the sucker rod up and down, which causes the pump to suck up the oil and push it to the surface.

When the oil reaches the surface, it can be put into transportation trucks or pipelines and sent off to a refinery where it is turned into things like gasoline, diesel fuel, and plastics.

Think of it like a big robot helping to draw the oil out from underground and bring it up to the surface where we can use it!
