ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Beanpot (ice hockey)

Okay, so imagine a big cooking pot (like one you might make soup in) but instead of soup, it's filled with ice. That's called an ice hockey rink, and people play a fun game called ice hockey on it.

Now, imagine four really good college ice hockey teams from Boston - they're called Boston College, Boston University, Harvard, and Northeastern. Each year they compete in a special tournament called the Beanpot.

The Beanpot is like a big party for ice hockey fans in Boston. People cheer for their favorite team, wear special hats and shirts, and sometimes even paint their faces with their team's colors.

The teams all play against each other, and the winners keep playing until there's only one team left standing. The winning team gets to take home a special trophy - it's a big silver pot with beans on it (that's why it's called the Beanpot).

It's a really exciting event and lots of people love watching and cheering for their favorite team.
