Bel (mythology)

Bel was a very important god in some ancient religions. People believed that he was in charge of things like war, the sun, and even farming. When they would pray to Bel, they might ask for his help in fighting a battle or making their crops grow.

In some stories, Bel was the father of all the gods and goddesses. This made him even more special and powerful. People would build big temples to honor Bel and leave offerings there for him. They might also tell stories about him to their children to teach them about their religion and what Bel stood for.

Today, not many people still believe in Bel or worship him, but we can still learn a lot from studying these ancient beliefs and stories. It helps us understand how people thought about the world and their place in it, and how different cultures have worshipped gods in many different ways throughout history.
