Belém do Pará Convention

The Belém do Pará Convention is an agreement between countries to protect the rights of the people who live in forests. This means that countries like Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Peru have promised to ensure that people who live in forests have the right to have enough food and clean water, access to health care, education and other services. They have also agreed to protect the forests from being destroyed by big companies or other governments. This agreement helps to make sure the forests stay healthy and people are treated fairly.
