Belvedere (M. C. Escher)

Belvedere is a fancy word for a building with a really nice view where people can go and enjoy the scenery. An artist named M.C. Escher made a picture of a belvedere that can make your brain feel like it's playing a trick on you.

In the picture, you see the inside of the belvedere and the outside at the same time. It's like you can see through the walls! This is because Escher drew the picture in a way that makes it seem like the stairs inside the building connect to the stairs outside. But in real life, this would be impossible.

So, even though the picture is just a drawing on a piece of paper, it makes your brain think that something isn't quite right. And that's why Belvedere is such a famous and cool piece of art!
