Bentwood

Bentwood is a special way of making wooden things by bending and shaping wood strips into different shapes without breaking them. Just like bending a piece of paper, wood strips are soaked in water or steam first, making them soft and easier to bend into different shapes. The wood is then placed on a mold, which is a shape that the wood will take when it is bent. The wood is then clamped to this mold to hold its shape until it dries and hardens back into a solid form. This special technique has been used for hundreds of years to make all kinds of things out of wood like chairs, baskets, and toys.
