Bernoulli's principle

Bernoulli's Principle is a scientific idea that explains how air or liquid moves. You know that when you blow up a balloon and let it go, it flies around the room. That happens because the air inside the balloon is moving quickly, and the air outside the balloon is moving more slowly. This difference in speed makes the balloon move.

Now, imagine you have a straw that is sticking out of a glass of water. When you suck on the straw, you are pulling air out of the straw, which makes the pressure inside the straw go down. This creates a difference in pressure between the inside of the straw and the outside, and the higher pressure outside the straw pushes the water up inside the straw and into your mouth. This is called Bernoulli's Principle.

Another example of Bernoulli's Principle is when you fly in an airplane. Airplanes have special wings that are curved on top and flat on the bottom. When the airplane is flying, air moves faster over the curved top of the wing than the flat bottom. This creates a difference in pressure that makes the airplane lift up into the air.
