Berwick-upon-Tweed

Berwick-upon-Tweed is a special place that is located in the North of England near Scotland. It used to be part of Scotland many, many years ago but then it became part of England. Now it is a town that has lots of history and interesting things to see.

Berwick-upon-Tweed is special because it is right on the coast which means you can see the sea and feel the salty air. It is also special because it has a big bridge that goes over a river called the River Tweed. This bridge is important because it connects the town to Scotland. So if you want to go to Scotland from Berwick-upon-Tweed you can just use this bridge!

The town has lots of old buildings that are very, very old. Some of these buildings have been there for more than 800 years! That's a very long time. Some of these buildings are also very tall and have lots of steps. But if you climb up to the top of them, you can see the whole town and even the sea!

Berwick-upon-Tweed also has a big castle which was built a long, long time ago to protect the town from enemies. The castle is very big and has lots of walls and towers. It is also very old and has lots of history. Now you can go and visit it to see what it was like to live in a castle a long time ago.

In Berwick-upon-Tweed, people speak English but sometimes they use a different accent or words that are not used in other parts of England. So if you visit the town, you might hear people say different things!
