Best alternative to a negotiated agreement

A negotiated agreement is when two people or groups try to work out a solution to a problem together by talking, but if they can't agree and reach an agreement, the best alternative to a negotiated agreement is for an outside person or group (like a judge or jury) to decide how to solve the problem. This is called an arbitration or mediated agreement, and can be quicker and less expensive than a negotiated agreement.
