ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Beurgeois

Well little one, "bourgeois" is a very fancy and grown-up word that some people use to describe a certain kind of class or social group.

You see, back in the olden times, society was divided into different classes of people based on how much money they had, what job they did, and who their family was. The "bourgeois" class was made up of people who were in the middle - they weren't super rich like the fancy nobles and aristocrats, but they weren't poor regular folks either.

These bourgeois people tended to be in business or trade, owning their own shops or working as merchants. They often lived in cities and towns rather than in big palaces or estates in the countryside.

So when people use the term "bourgeois" today, they might be talking about people who are kind of in the middle class or who are into fancy things like art, wine, and expensive cars. It can also be used to talk about certain values or attitudes that are associated with that kind of lifestyle.

But don't worry too much about it, little one. Just know that it's a word for a certain type of person or lifestyle, and it's not something that really affects you as a young'un.
