Bhutanese democracy

Okay kiddo, so you know how we live in a democracy, right? Bhutan is a country that also has a democracy, but they do things a little differently than we do.

See, in Bhutan, the king used to have all the power and make all the decisions for the country. But in 2008, he decided that the country should have a democracy and share the power with the people.

So, now the people of Bhutan get to vote for their leaders, just like we do. But what's different is that Bhutan has something called the Gross National Happiness Index. This is a way of measuring how happy and satisfied the people of Bhutan are with their lives, not just how much money they have.

When the leaders of Bhutan make decisions, they have to think about how it will affect the people's happiness, not just how much money it will make. This means that things like taking care of the environment and keeping traditions alive are just as important as making money.

Overall, Bhutanese democracy means that the people get to have a say in how their country is run and that the leaders have to think about more than just money. It's a way of making sure that everyone is happy, healthy, and taken care of.
