ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Bibliotherapy

Bibliotherapy is when you use books to help you feel better. Just like how sometimes when you have a cold, you take medicine to help you feel better, bibliotherapy is like medicine for your feelings.

When you read books, you can learn new things and get new ideas, and that can help you feel better. Sometimes when we feel sad or lonely or scared, it can be hard to talk about it with someone else. But when we read a book that has characters who are going through the same things we are, it can make us feel less alone.

Reading books can also help us understand ourselves better, and why we feel the way we do. When we understand ourselves better, we can figure out what we need to do to feel better. So, bibliotherapy is just finding books that can help us feel better and teaching us how to understand and take care of our feelings.
